How do you search for records with attachments? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does anyone know how to search for records that contain an attachment and display in a subgrid. I have a client that does not use Sharepoint, so they have documents attached to Contacts, Accounts, Quotes etc. I'm looking for a method to aggregate records that contain an attachment and then display in a subgrid.

  • Hello,

You can create a html webresource where you get retrieve data from annotation entity based on regardingobjectid, you can check for regardingobjectid object type and if they are equal to contact, accounts and quotes display them in grid.

Check this sample to work with attachments

  • If it's sufficent to show records of a given type (e.g. Accounts) that have attachments in a grid, then you can just use Advanced Find, or create views to display these records

However, if you want to display several types of records together, then you can't use a CRM grid, so you'll need a different UI component. I'd use a reporting services report to do this

  • Mahender and David are absolutely right but one other item which you may consider as easier and quicker will be developing SSRS report which will show you aggregated view.
