Activation not recognised - suspect trial version partial install RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been happily using and updating my Office Pro 2002 for several years and have never had a problem with WGA until now. I was trying to download update 934708 and got a not activated message. I went through the processes to (re)activate and found that my computer thinks it is validated (click here for screenshot).

I think the problem was caused by me starting to install a trial copy of Office 2007 and not reading the instructions properly. When I was asked for the activation code I used my old one for 2003 without thinking, which it obviously rejected and when I read the instructions about needing to get the key sent I decided to abandon the process and clicked cancel.

I've tried deleting the registry key for Office 12.0 which I found but didn't have any active instructions, to no avail.

I would appreciate any help you can give getting things back to normal and pray it doesn't involve reinstalling Office Pro. Thanks in advance, below are the results of the diagnostic report:

  • Hello Slim,

Please refer to the following Knowledge Base article located here:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218. In turn it gives directions for uninstalling Beta versions but also should work for Trial versions. Please post back and let me know the results.

    Thank you,
