Windows Defender on windows 10

Question
-
Since I updated from windows 7 to windows 10, I find that Windows Defender replaces the previous Security Essentials.
The only problem I have with this is that the Defender icon is never shown on what i think is called the start bar (the one at the bottom right of the screen, where the time is shown), so I can never be sure if its running or not. Can anyone advise on how I can possible get Defender to stow all the time on the start bar?
Thanks
