getting the same here, running vista home premium too, tried unistalling and reinstalling and still same thing... update required. I unistalled for now untill fixed...waste of time!!Tuesday, June 21, 2011 10:30 PM -
Same glitch here with Vista Home Premium.... uninstalled it - installed again ----- looked up so many microsoft pearls of wisdom that I'm dizzy at this point. Tried resetting IE9 to defaults (no clue why other than I didn't know what else to do) ..... as well as restoring my puter to a different time thinking I must have done 'something' to create the problem. Would be a novel concept if an answer was easy to find. It ran great for a while ----- I really liked it while it worked ---- issue started about 3 days ago.Wednesday, June 22, 2011 5:59 AM

Same here on a WinXP SP3 Prof computer.

This solution has worked on two separate work/home PCs with Windows XP SP3 only (fully patched).
Go to the Services Consol - Start / Admin Tools / Services (or Run then type "Services.msc" no quotes)
Go to the Microsoft Automated Troubleshooting Service (MATS)
Right Click, choose Properties
Under the General tab make sure the Start Up type is Automatic
Go next to the Log On tab
Choose "This Account" button and type in "NT AUTHORITY\System" (no quotes)
You'll be asked a password and will be required to confirm the password (that I can't help you out with)
If successful you'll be asked to Stop and Restart the service. I recommend you do so under the General Tab.
I did the above steps on two separate PCs with XP SP3 and it worked.
Fix It was still in Beta mode but I no longer got the Update Application button when I started the program
GOOD LUCK!

WSR203 Thanks for the solution, I haven't tried it yet, but I printed it out just in case. I am running XP Prof. and had exactly the same problem yesterday. This moring I tried it again and it said I needed to update like it has been. I tried the update again and this morning it worked. So you might give it another chance although I don't know how long it will work.Wednesday, June 22, 2011 1:46 PM

Thanks. Is your Fix It still Beta mine is. Unfortunately I did my solution rather after trying it again this morning and getting the same message. Perhaps if I waited it would have worked out either way.
