Failed Validation of Front Page RRS feed

  • Question

  • Folks, I too had a failed validation from Microsoft and I had this program genuine from MS themselves since 2002!!!!!  It was fine a few months ago and I had to format my hard drive because MS did not warn anyone that Media 11 will be in conflict with Media 10 and it will cause problems.  Had no choice but to do so.  Now when I want to check for Office Updates I find this failed validation popping up.  I am very pissed off at MS because this validation *** is getting too much.  Furthermore I am not about to go into finding the seller again which is Dell, who installed my computer programs and provided me the CD's etc, and to find my friggin receipts when I bought the Microsoft Office Front Page XP Corporate Edition from a legit store source back from 2002!!!!!  MS has to be absolutely crazy.  Last of all I am not about to spend hundreds of dollars just to satisfy these pumpkins either when I already got the frickin genuine article right here in my hands.

Any solution to this problem would be greatly appreciated folks, and it is time MS stops screwing with us.

  • To Dan;

Well folks its like this, I received another surprise early Saturday morning, when I did another WGA office check.  It not only said that my Front Page was VLK, but it also said that my Microsoft Office Visio 2003 was no good.  Now when I saw the second one, that is when I knew something was wrong and that there had to be a serious bug in the WGA program.

Why, because I knew I had no CD for the Microsoft Office Visio 2003 and that program was downloaded straight from the Microsoft Web Site!!!!!!!!!!!

So now this says that and from what I understand it is also telling me that the Microsoft download is not genuine.  Amazing

I ran a Microsoft tool that is supposed to clean and straighten up the registry folks, and I got 5 different entries that were removed.  It said that I had corrupted registries????  Well I turned off long time ago any chance for anyone to even get close to such on my computer.  After I did this, then did the reboot, I find it cannot even read the fact I had a CD and a DVD.

So, what I did was do a another complete re-format inside a record time like 14 hours installing all my programs back in including the Front Page, and the Visio, and others and all the updates being downloaded including the OFFICE and guess what no problem occurred.  How many files -> I would say about a good 1.5 million files.

I cheated the WGA method, and went reverse in my installation.  I knew I had for certain at least one good OFFICE PROGRAM CD because for some reason it kept getting by-passed by the WGA.  I will not mention it here cause I believe MS will try to block that one out as well.  Anyway the reverse process worked and I got my Front Page and others back as well.

So folks even deleting that dat.data files and other methods did not work.  That was not the solution.  Even doing the Microsoft clean up program did not work either.  It is inside the registry that the WGA looks for and of course I saw it and compared to my previous backed up registry of when the programs worked before.  There was some difference.  Again the only difference I did here was I not install the Net Framework 2.0, and only had Net Framework 1.1 as of right now and all worked fine.  I discovered that there may be a conflict with Net Framework 2.0 with WGA, creating a bug somehow that gives you a FALSE POSITIVE of your software being not Genuine.

Again the reason why I suspect such, is because I did not install Net Framework 2.0 this time around, and the other is when it said that my Microsoft Visio 2003 download was supposed to be non-genuine as well when I did have Net Framework 2.0 installed.  Now with the Visio 2003 and Front Page installed with only Net Framework 1.1 ---> Viola all went smooth!!!!!!!

Very weird indeed.   So, now I guess I have to make a decision here of whether or not to have my free Chess game which needs Net Framework 2.0 for it to work.  Also folks, just as well the Net Framework 2.0 gives conflict to your Microsoft Flight Simulater 2002 and FS 9 Century of Flight and creates problems inside that game as reported by many of us Flight Simmers.

There is something wrong with this Net Framework 2.0.  I still cannot see how in the heck that they can insert a 64 bit into a 32 bit and make it backwards compatible.  Many of our computers operate on 32 bit version.  The Vista for example-> is a 64 bit requiring different hardware and processes as well.  What Microsoft is trying to do here is combine both bit versions into one package, and in doing so this is creating a heap of problems to many folks out here.  This is why I am convinced that there is indeed a SERIOUS FLAW IN THE NET FRAMEWORK 2.0. programming itself.  If Microsoft made a separate version for the 32 bit, and a separate version for the 64 bit in their Net Framework 2.0 version and perhaps the same for the Net Framework 3.0 that they just came out with, then I believe most of the problems will more or less disappear.

You cannot just take a 32 bit and expand it to a 64 bit and vice versa take a 64 bit and squeeze it like a dickens down to a 32 bit and expect to see it work.  Mathematically it is impossible.  It defies the law of MATH.

For example we have a 32nd of an inch on a ruler by itself, and we have a 64ths of an inch on another ruler as well.  Take a look at these two different rulers yourselves and you will then see exactly what I mean above.  So it is TWO DIFFERENT MEASUREMENTS all together.  Same applies to computers as well.

Some computer geek will try to explain this in such a way to try to make some sense of their knowledge to justifiy its reasoning, but face it folks, the old school ways of learning to do your math in your head is by far 1,000 times better than the new ways of learning to do your math of which so many today NEED A CALCULATOR to do it for them or some computer to do the figuring for them.  If you not believe it, ask some kids today just some math questions any place and any time, and you will be surprised that they cannot give you the correct answer.

So my problem is solved, by doing a complete Re-format of the Main C partition of my hard drive and inserting the one known OFFICE program that Microsofts WGA by-passed and then downloading all its Windows updates first and its Office updates first as well before inserting the rest of the other Office programs that I had here AND AVOIDED installing the NET FRAMEWORK 2.0.  After this, all is a piece of cake -> no problem.

    Have a good day folks

  • Microsoft never issued a version called Microsoft Office Front Page XP "Corporate Edition".  It is highly probable you inadvertently purchased a pirated version.

  • I identified my product here wrong.  It is Microsoft Corporate Edition Office Xp Professional, with the service pack 1 and it does have the Genuine logo on it and I have the original package that came with it and bought it believe it or not at Best Buy!!!!

Now why would they be selling pirate version at a legit store???  In the Chicago area?????  Highly unlikely because I know the area well and know the police there are very intelligent, and I was with a police officer who is a friend of mine when I bought it.  He got the same thing too.

It would be very stupid for a store to be on the take as well as be selling pirate versions cause if they did they would have been shut down long time ago and gone out of business as well.

If such was bought in other countries such as in Asia or in Europe outside of the USA, that is another matter cause pirate versions in those areas is extremely very common.

One can possibly sell pirated versions maybe in America, but you can bet you won't be in business for long before someone catches you maybe in some flea market area or off from some street corner, but trust me not coming from legit stores that have been around for some time now.

It just does not make sense.

  • Why should I since you cut my posts off.  From what I have read from others you still have not found a solution for any of us.  None of your methods or suggestions has worked.  It behooves me that to think that MS has the answers for us when I see that outsiders have solved our case problems and not from MS>  I have seen mine(WGA) and never had a problem with it before since 2002!!!!!!!.  So, I still await the day you can explain to us folks why all of a sudden just recently MS is claiming we have counterfeit office CD's so bought inside good ol' USA. Simple and well said and done.  Have a good day.

  • Lonesome,

Please follow these steps for assistance:

Step 1 is to run the utility at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012, then click the Windows tab, click the "Copy" button, then paste the report into a response in this thread.

Step 2 is to look on the computer or with the materials you received with the computer or with your retail purchase of Windows to see if you have a Certificate of Authenticity (COA).  If you have one, tell us about the COA.  Tell us:

    1.  What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center, or another version of Windows?

    2.  Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?

    3.  Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?

    4.  DO NOT post the Product Key.

Step3.  Please do the same for your Office Product--tell us what you can about the COA, but of course do not post the Product Key.

Not sure what to look for?  See this page for reference:  http://www.microsoft.com/resources/howtotell/en/coa.mspx
