Live mesh and .mny file RRS feed

  • Question

  • Up until yesterday (30/10/08) my .mny (Microsoft Money) files were sync'ing  between my devices fine. However, today they stopped. Reading the help files, I notice that .mny files are not supported.

Has this changed in the latest update? Is there any reason for this change? Will it sync these files again in the future?

    Thanks in advance.

  • There were a few issues that caused the .mny files from being added to the exception list so they are not sync.  I'm going to open a suggestion bug to start tracking response to take it out of the exception list and start sync'ing again.

  • I am having the same issue.  this was the greatest way to backup my money file remotely.  Should I just go back to foldershare?

  • this is off topic.... but when synching of the .mny worked, were you able to use MS Money on multiple computers while "sharing" the same data file?  How did that work for you?

  • I think they removed .mny file support due to a bug that I submitted:

  • I found that the latest update deleted all my mny files from Live Desktop and then on the next sync, wiped everything from my PC! When new exclusions are added, Mesh should at least tell me that it's no longer syncing those files, but it should not delete them without my input!

  • I'm now using a work around: I copied my money.mny file to money.money file and have Money 2005 open that instead. In explorer right click on money.money and open with, then select Money 2005 and check always open with this file. Mesh then sync's the money file as it's not a .mny.
