[CRM4.0] CRM Data Migration Manager - Unable to connect to the Microsoft CRM Server RRS feed

  • I have a PC running a VPC Image with Microsoft CRM on it, the one that MS provides. I'm trying to use the Data Migration Manager to test importing data.

    However, I am continually getting the message "The configuration wizard cannot connect to the Microsoft CRM server. This might indicate that the server is down".

    However, I am able to connect to the CRM fine from my web browser. It's on port :5555, I've tried using
    http://IPAddress:5555 and just http://IPAddress and neither of them are working.

    I've also tried using My Company vs An online service provider with no luck, and have even attempted using the IFD tool to configure the CRM.

    The image is the one supplied with Microsoft with some plugins / customizations imported from another environment.

    any ideas?

  • Looks like the Migration Tool was trying to communicate with MOSS:5555 even when I was supplying the IP address (used Fiddler to figure this out). Since I had no DNS entry for MOSS this was failing. However, adding this to the hosts file resolved the issue.
