Windows is suddenly showing as not genuine

Question
-
I bought my computer from best buy just over a year ago. It's a Compaq Presario CQ62 laptop and everything was running fine. Suddenly windows started having trouble starting up, it would take several resets and sometimes had to wait several minutes in between tries to get windows to load and it says in the bottom right-hand corner that Windows 7 is not genuine. The computer also freezes a lot randomly and especially while playing videos. I'm not sure this isn't a hardware issue but I figured this would be a place to start. I have tried the key on the bottom of the case and online and nothing works.

You have a rare occurrence in Win 7 – a Trusted Store Tamper. This appears to have come about on the 16th November – do you recall installing anything at about that time (or within three days prior?) . Did you have a malware infection?

You may have a failing hard drive. Go into the Device Manager and look at the hard drive to see who manufactured it then download the mfg's hard drive diagnostics and run them. You are still in warranty.
The licensing store may be corrupt and this is likely to be the result of an underlying problem rather than the cause given the symptoms you describe. Noel recommends the following for rebuilding the licensing store:
Recreate the Licensing Store
1) Click Start button.
2) Type: CMD.exe into the 'Search programs and files' field
3) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator
4) Type: net stop sppsvc (It may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
Note: the Software Protection service may not be running, this is ok.
5) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
6) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
7) Type: cd %windir%\system32
8) Type: net start sppsvc
9) Type: slui.exe
10) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automatically.
Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report
But this will not resolve the performance issues.

I am having the exact same problem with my computer, also a Compaq Presario CQ62. The Solution User: Cbarnhorst presented sounded quite appealing because I know I have a failing drive. I have been receiving a notification of imminent drive failure for the last 6 months. I was unable however to rerun the licensing store in the manner he presented. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but I was unable to get past step 6. Thanks
