After 4 years of running a genuine copy of Windows Vista, I can't work on the computer as it continues to give me a validation error. Here is the report created.

.... and after 4 years you would appear not yet to have learned to keep your operating system up-to-date....Windows Vista SP 2 was released early in 2009 - you have still not got around to installing it.Windows Vista SP1 went out of support in 2011 - and you STILL did not take action. You should try reading the 'stickies' at the head of this forum for assistance - most of them apply in your instance.UNINSTALL YOUR CURRENT AV, THEN INSTALL SERVICE PACK 2, THE REINSTALL A NEW COPY OF YOUR ANTI-VIRUS.(is that plain enough?)

Thanks for your sarcastic reply. I have done what you said above but after installing the SP2 pack, my computer at the welcome page goes into a vicious cycle of update and shutdown. It has happened once when the operating system was running adequately, and once after I installed SP2 after my reformat. I thought this was a community to help each other, and treat each other with respect.Saturday, March 24, 2012 12:04 PM

It has happened once when the operating system was running adequately, and once after I installed SP2 after my reformat. I thought this was a community to help each other, and treat each other with respect. There was no sarcasm there - merely plain speaking. Please post another MGADiag report.Whenever a Service Pack is installed, there will be a number of updates to do which depend on the prior installation of the Service Pack - there are currently around 115 for Vista, since SP2 was released. This is one reason why it's a good idea to install such things at the earliest opportunity, rather than delay it. There are also significant performance enhancements in SP2 - some of which aren't available simply by installing all the patches for SP1When you say 'vicious cycle of update and shutdown' what exactly do you mean? - are the updates being installed, or not? Are you getting error messages? Did the SP2 installation actually complete properly?
