Installation CRM Workgroup server 2011 - Migrate data from CRM 2011 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

my problem is that I installed CRM 2011 evaluation three months ago.

And I have a key for Workgroup server (no compatible with evaluation server) and I don't want to create back all data and personnalise ...

I was migrating CRM 4.0 to CRM 2011.

And now I'm looking for information to migrate all in a new CRM 2011 Workgroup server.

I need to made a new server? Or can I install my new CRM on the same server than the evaluation server?

Anyone can share experience or can help me,

    Thanks Jérôme

It looks like you installed the 90 trial for the Enterprise instead of the Workgroup edition.  In that case you will need to uninstall CRM 2011 but leave the organization databases in tact, you can also leave the Reporting Extensions installed.  You will need to delete the MSCRM_CONFIG database.

Now install CRM 2011 again and enter the Workgroup key you have when prompted.  You will need to choose that you are creating a new deployment so it creates the MSCRM_CONFIG and another organization database, make sure you do not name it the same as your original organization!  Once the installation completes, then open Deployment Manager.  Click on Organizations and choose to import.  You will get a warning that the current organization will no longer be accessible so this is fine, you should now be able to select your organization from the dropdown.  Import it in and just map to existing users.

This way you will keep all of your data and now be using the correct version.

  • Still have a problem:

When I try to import organization from CRM Deployment manager, I get this error:

    "Microsoft CRM Organization

The organization database version is not supported for upgrade.

    Microsoft SQL Server

The organization database selected for import is a different version than the organization database that is currently deployed."

I hope I can import and there is a way to do it.

    UPDATE:

    Ok with Update rollup 2.

  • Hi Jerome,

If I clearly understand the question you have a workgroup key of server and you already have evaluation version of MS CRM. Now your question is while importing data from crm 4.0 you meant to say that new import can directly be done in the workgroup server correct?
