CRM 2011: Workflow trigger when an activity is link to target record (Contact) RRS feed

  • Hi all,

    I'm new to CRM and need your help with following requirement:

    I need to create a workflow that trigger everytime an activity (all type: Email, Letter, PhoneCall, etc...) is linked to target record (Account, Contact).

    My environment is: CRM 2011 On-Premise.

    The option to start a workflow seems do not support this requirement, only:

      +Record is created.

      +Record status is changed.

      +Record is assigned.

      +Record fields change (only non-relationship field is listed here...)

      +Record is deleted.

    Please tell me how to make a workflow that trigger everytime an activity is linked to target record. If not possible, is there an workaround for this?

  • use update , choose field regarding.

    You can create workflow on create of activity and put condition to check regarding like below, for example if you want to check if email is created regarding account

    Thanks for your help. It's a good idea but still have some problems:

    1. Your idea focus on Activities, not on target Entity (Account/Contact) --> I need to create a workflow for each Activity type (Email, Letter, Phonecall, etc...) with duplicate mechanism.

    2. "Link" here is not only "Regarding", it means all Activities that are shown up Contact -> Activities navigation.

    For example: The activities created by Campaign Activities Distribution does not have Regarding to Contact but it's also shown up in Contact -> Activities navigation panel.

    Do you have any other workaround?

    Do we really focus on Activities instead of Account/Contact?

    If yes, do you know the criteria to show Activities in Contact -> Activities navigation panel?
