Does Call Redirection work on Mac and/or Linux? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I"ve done a few quick tests this morning, and I am able to log into CWA on a windows machine and upon receiving a Communicator Call from another user, I can redirect the call to my VoIP phone (we've got a SIP trunk from CallManager setup). However, this does not work while logged into CWA on a Mac or Linux machine. I can, however, set up CWA to Forward All Calls (setup in the Contact List) and it successfully redirects.

Is on-the-fly redirection not supported on Mac or Linux? Or do I just have something setup wrong?

This currently not supported natively due to the restriction with IIS API calls and davx.  This is something that may get included in wave 14.  Meanwhile there are third party products that allow you to use EV from MAC and Linux e.g. SmartSIP (http://www.evangelyze.net/products.asp ).  You can use a soft phone like x-lite to leverage communications on MAC side or use native clients (http://www.counterpath.com/x-lite.html&active=4) or even 3CX soft phone.  There are other vendors that could provide you with this functionality as well e.g. http://fonality.com/.

  • Yesterday the call redirection was working fine, and later in the afternoon it stopped working. I am not aware of any changes we made to the system. Has anyone noticed irregularities in it? Are there things I can make sure are in place to get it working again?

Still, if I use the Call Forward option on my contact list, my calls get forwarded just fine. Why would it not work on the fly when someone tries to give me a Communicator Call while auto-forwarding isn't enabled?

  • Has no one else tried using this feature? Could someone out there with a solid OCS setup please try this and tell me if it works or not?

    Thanks!
