Looking for the SBSC forum for Windows XP. I specificially am having a problem with USMT 3.0.1. I download 3.0.1 on a computer, use the wizard to copy files and settings to an external drive, then I re-image the machine (format, reinstall Windows XP) upgrade to USMT 3.0.1 and get an error message that the data I copied was created with a previous version of USMT and can't be used. This is after downloading the same version from the same MS download site both times. This is very annoying and requires me to manually copy data over (I have learned to backup data manually because USMT is so unreliable).
What is wrong with USMT, and how do I fix it? This has happened now on multiple machines, and it basically never works now. I've learned to download the latest version because the versions tend to not be compatible with other versions (this is lazy design!).
