Not getting outlook reminders RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I create a Phone Call or Task in CRM, I am not getting any outlook reminders with whatever due date is selected - I am not getting any reminders.  The tasks are not showing up in my outlook either.  I am probably missing something silly but I am the owner of these activities and my outlook is set up with CRM.  At one point this was working (with tasks) but now it is not…I’m not sure what changed.

  • Outlook reminders for tasks need to be configured in Outlook. Reminders for Outlook task items work differently to calendar items. Task reminders can be configured for a single time of day (e.g. 9am) whereas calendar item reminders can be configured for a certain time before the start time (e.g. 15 minutes).

In Outlook 2007, the default is for all task reminders to appear at 08:00 and calendar item reminders to appear 15 minutes before the start. You can alter these defaults in Outlook: Tools menu > Options option > Preferences tab.

One of the drawbacks with this is that CRM phone calls will sync to Outlook as a task, but you can't have a reminder pop-up 15 minutes before the phone call is due to be made, the reminder will pop-up at 08:00 on the day of the phone call. If you want a reminder 15 minutes before you are due to make a phone call, you'll need to use a CRM appointment instead.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi, yes I did see that option and I actually think they will prefer the 8am for everything that is due that day.  The one thing I did not notice is now I am getting an error when trying to Synchorinize with CRM

The tasks said it was complete but I am actually getting an error that cuts off.  It reads:

The Synchhironization process cannot be run on this computer.  Only one client computer per user can run this process.  The syncohrizing client should be the computer that is most often online.  To chang

Then it cuts off to tell me how to change it?  I did just get a new computer a few weeks back...

Any ideas how to change it?

  • Yes, the Outlook client will only allow one computer per user to hold the position between CRM and Exchange.  You should be curious as to how the user got another computer in that position.
