  • Error 438 when coonecting to oracle db from vb. can some one provide it with simple code

  • Make sure that the new user/password can access the Oracle server. You can try to get to the Oracle server with SQL Plus, If you get an error there, then you know it is not your code / program.

    So use the Oracle SQL Plus, connect with the new account, and run the query from the program, I would check to see if that works first.

  • If you are using VB .Net then this error is being reported by the db object.  You should consult the documentation for that object to find out what it means.

  • Hi The code was good because it was well since 2004 when it was created. Recently we made a password change to all servers . This error is coming . Is this happening that dll not referencing ? It's not vb. net it's a asp page written in vb script.

  • The query separately ran in db without any errors .when accessing through code we r getting the error 438. As this was production we couldn't able to change the code. We just updated the new password in vb script . After that only we r getting this error. We ran all services again and also registered the new dlls in services admin . And one more point the dll that we drag from inetpub and application it's showing active value = 0
