Importing notes to existing contacts in Dymanics CRM4.0 RRS feed

  • We have an existing contacts database of approx 9000 contacts. I import bulk contacts (approx 250-300) on a weekly basis. So, after I have imported the new contacts, I would then perform the “note” import for these new contacts.  The problem is, the only reference to the contact when importing notes, is a first name last name.  As we have a large database, the chances of having two contacts with the same name from different companies, does occur.


    Bob Smith – Test Company Pty Ltd

    Bob Smith – Orange Company Pty Ltd

    Manually adding notes is time consuming. I would have thought that the power of CRM (not to mention cost) would be able to make this simple identification by allowing me to add the “Parent Customer” that the contact is associated to the data map and then be able to import all notes automatically.

    How can I identify the right contact to import the note to? Can I add “Parent Customer” to the automatic data map, or can I create my own data map?
