Title of indexed page doesn't exist. How do I correct it? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Something peculiar is happening.  I've check one of our sites in "Webmaster Tools/Summary" and it shows that 5 pages have been indexed.  One of the pages that is being indexed is "your pet cat dog supply at yourpetnme.com."  I don't have a page with that title.  The URL shown for that page is "http://yourpetnme.com/OurFamily.html", which is one of my pages, and is primarily a Flash presentation with pictures and hardly any text.

When I searched "your pet cat dog supply at yourpetnme.com" in "Live Search" I came up with the following search result:

your pet cat dog supply at yourpetnme.com
pet health store tag name food adoption bird nutrition exotic
    yourpetnme.com/F.A.Qs..html · Cached page

This is showing a link to our FAQ's page, which is different from "Our Family" page, and this page has nothing to do with "store, adoption, birds, or nutrition."

Could someone explain what's happening and whether it can be corrected?

  • The flash with little text is probably your issue. Do you have a page title or meta description? If not, I highly recomend taking some time to fill them out. They will help the SE generate a result title and snippet.
