Support for Raw Image Formats and 16 or 32 Bit Colour RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have just found ICE and I find it makes a much better job of image stitching than any other tools I've looked at previously.

One thing that would make it even more useful, would be support for RAW camera formats, such as the DNG file format provided on my Pentax camera. This is particularly so that it might be possible to support 16 or 32 bit colour, for astronomical purposes, rather than just the currently limited 8 bit colour.

Are there expected to be any enhancements for RAW file formats?
Are there expected to be any enhancements in future for 16 or 32 bit colour?

If RAW files are not possible as these are proprietary to camera vendors, support for 16 or 32 bit colour within TIFF files or FITS files might be the next best solution.
