  • There were problems with one of yesterday's updates - KB3004394

If you uninstall it, that may cure the problem

  • Thanks for prompt reply

    I'm deinstalling now

and will say later if it has fixed it

  • I had this issue after last night, I called earlier today and they told me to run the "slui 3" from the command prompt. I did that, re-entered my product key, and it said successfully activated, the control panel showed genuine, etc.

Couple hours later I get the same "this product is not genuine popup" and I call back, I spoke to someone different and he said microsoft is aware of the problems and should have it fixed soon. (He said there's nothing wrong with our product keys, or our windows, it's just a bug they're dealing with)

He said he knew the popups were annoying but that they would be gone soon, so I guess just bear with it for a bit.

  • That's totally ridiculous!

MS has changed their advice on this patch...

    See the notes in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3004394
    - it is not advised to uninstall the update if already installed as it may
    cause other issues.

    MS have since
released a new patch designed to resolve the issues caused bythe failed patch..
