Process triggers email for one user but not another RRS feed

  • Question

  • I created a very simple process that sends an email to the assignee when one user assigns a task to another user.  If I assign a task as user A to user B, the email is triggered.  If I assign task as user B to user A the email is never triggered.  The process simply says "if created by is not the same as owner", "send an email" and the email template data is dynamic.  Please note, I am not talking about whether the email gets through.  I am saying that when user B assigns a task the email never even gets created in the first place.  User B has no issues whatsoever creating emails manually and sending them.

    I am stumped.  Any advice?

  • Hi,

Check workflow system job in System Jobs and see if the Send E-mail step is executing or not? and also see if there is any error details in Workflow System Job message.

  • Thanks, it is not executing.  I'm sure that's very helpful from a troubleshooting point of view but it still only tells me what I already knew.  So why might it not be executing?  Something I did wrong with the process?  Below is a link to a screenshot of the process and the email that gets sent by it.  Thanks.

  • Hi,

Try change the workflow Scope to Business Unit (if the users are from same Business unit or else set to Organization) and also try running the Workflow on Demand (Check As on Demand Process option) by selecting the task and click on Run workflow button and also check the workflow system job status (Settings-> System->System Jobs)

  • One more question if you don't mind.  How would I insert a link in the notification email that contains a link to the new task itself?

  • Hi,

There is no out of the box functionality available to insert the entity link into the email message, if you are using CRM 2011 On-Premise not online then you can install the workflow assembly to generate the link. You can downlaod the assembly from the following Url:
