Re: Questions regarding KB949810; XP activation problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • Well I live in England, and we are if we're not English speaking I don't know who is!

Update KB949810 arrived via WSUS yesterday and now all my XP workstations running Word 2002 are telling me it needs activating. The only problem is that the software is genuine and was activated 3 years ago.

Hi Mark - Thanks for the post!  There can be issues with the data file that Office uses for activation and they can in certain instances become corrupt.

There is a KB that Office posted a while back that will take care of this:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903275/en-us

Can you take a look at it and let us know if this helps.  Also, I know you had a couple of other posts.  Did you ever get the English KB for 949810?  If not, here that is as well:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949810/en-us

    Thanks,

    Michelle

  • Thanks for the fix Michelle, deleting data.dat has allowed Word 2002 to re-activate on my workstation. Only 7 more workstations to go!
