  • Question

  • The EULA for the Office2007PRO  says the following....

    2. INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS. Before you use the software under a license, you must assign that license to one device. That device is the “licensed device.” A hardware partition or blade is considered to be a separate device.
    a. Licensed Device. You may install and use one copy of the software on the licensed device.
    b. Portable Device. You may install another copy on a portable device for use by the single primary user of the licensed device.

So why am is Genuine Office telling me that Office2007 is NOT Genuine.???

Have one copy on Desktop and one copy on Laptop.
Before now , have had no problems.

    Rdgs.

  • WestSideRailways,

The mgadiag utility report is showing that the Vista Ultimate installation on your Dell XPS 630i computer is Genuine.

However, accoding to the utility report, your installation of Office 2007 Professional Plus was installed using an Invalid Volume Licensing Key:
    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 108 Invalid VLK
Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 - 108 Invalid VLK

Volume Licensing Keys only work with Volume Licensing media.  You mentioned that you have a hologrammed disc--is this disc for Vista Ultimate or is this disc for Office 2007 Pro Plus?  Assuming it is for Office, you may have been sold or otherwise acquired Volume Licensing CD media along with a "keygen" Volume Licensing Key.  A keygen key is a Product Key that was generated by a hacking program that uses the same algorithm as Microsoft uses to generate Product Key, but since the key was not generated by Microsoft, it is a pirated and therefore invalid Product Key.

Please note that genuine Volume Licensing Media always has notification pritned on it that the media is unlicensed illegal softwarewithout an accompanying Volume Licensing Agreement.

Note that if you do indeed have the materials for an OEM license for Office, OEM licensed are valid ONLY on the specific comuter onto which it was first preinstalled by that computer's manufactuer, and are NEVER permitted to be moved to any other computer.  Therefore, you are only allowed to install an OEM license on one computer and cannot move it to any other computer, much less install it on two computers at a time.  Full retail copies of Office, OTOH, can be simultaneously installed on the owners main computer and the owner's portable computer.

First, please determine if the Office that is installed is the same Office that you have the materials for.  See this link:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/CompareKeys.aspx?

If your Office is not validating, your best course of action is to return to the point of purchase, show the seller this report, and demand a refund or the genuine Microsoft software you paid for.

You should also consider filling out a piracy report, and should also consider taking steps to submit the CD to Microsoft for testing and possible replacement.

  • Hello WestSideRailways,

Thank you for visiting the Office Genuine Advantage (OGA) program forum. In an effort to focus more attention on your particular situation, I am going to split your post into a new thread.  Splitting threads are done to mitigate confusion caused by more than one posting about similar   topics, allowing us to focus on each customer individually.

Next please run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Test (MGADT) so that I may analyze the results.

By clicking the link below, you will download the MGADT.  Then click the Run button. Then click the Run button again. Then click the Continue button to perform the diagnostic. The Windows tab should show, click the Copy button to paste your report to the clipboard.  Then paste the report into a New Post on this Forum by adding a post in it and pressing Ctrl V (to paste the text). Clicking the OK button will clear the Diagnostic window. Here is the download link:

     http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

Please tell us about the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) for your copy of Microsoft Office.

    1. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?

    2. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?

    3. Please provide the customer scenario you are experiencing.

    4. DO NOT post the Product Key.

Not sure what to look for, see this page to reference your COA:

NOTE: The data collected with the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool does NOT contain any information that can personally identify you. The information can be fully reviewed, by you, before being posted.

    Thank you.

  • WestSideRailways,

You have quoted the EULA applicable to a full retail license for Office 2007.  The full retail license would be acquired by you purchasing Full Packaged Product of the software from a store, either online or local.

Licenses for downloaded installations, OEM preinstalled installations, and academic installations can be different, generally do not permit the second installation, and could be the cause of the problem.

So, please let us know how you acquired your Office 2007 Pro license, so we can help figure it out.
