Custom Entity Activities not showing under Account RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good day, in 4.0 I have created a custom entity called Websites, its parent relationship is with Account. I have created a task under the new entity but when viewing the Account Activity 'Regarding' view I cannot see the task I created under the new entity. What am I doing wrong?

Your help would be greatly received.

    Cheers

  • Hi Mark,

You aren't doing anything wrong, activities on custom entities simply do not rollup to a parent account or Contact for that matter. This feature hasn't been added to CRM2011 either, which is a shame as it's a popular requirement. You can vote for this enhancement here: https://connect.microsoft.com/dynamicssuggestions/feedback/details/554849/show-activities-from-related-custom-entities-in-accounts-activity-history

An option for your v4.0 deployment to persue would be to write an SRS report that collates the required information (i.e. activities and activities of child entities) and display the report in an iframe within your account form.

  • Hi Rob, many thanks for reaplying to my query. After triple checking my customisation I had a sneeky feeling activites relating to a custom entity don't rollup to the parent, its a real shame CRM2011 has'nt incoporated this feature. I tried the link as mentioned but was unable to vote, could you re-send?

To get around this problem I'll give your suggestion a go as it seems the best way forward.

    Many thanks again.
