Post a link to a post of another thread? Sort of like anchor tag

Question
-
Let's say there's a question that was previously asked in another (very long) thread. What would the link look like if I just wanted to link to a particular post from a particular user?
I've seen threads with 100+ posts so if I just post the thread url the user will have to browser through the whole thing to finally find the post that actually has the reply.
Thanks.

It's possible to do, but it's not very easy.
The simplest method is to find the post in question in the poster's activity list and then use that link. As an example, this will link directly to Dave's post above:
If you can't find the post in the poster's activity list, you can also find this link via the RSS feed view. If you hover over the thread title of the post you want to reference, you can find the direct link that way:

Thanks.
I had actually thought of that, but the post is over a year old and it's not there.
I ended up getting the post id from the page source, which can be found just under the post.

As far as I know there is no method currently to support that action. You could make that suggestion over here.

It does come in handy every now and again. I don't often directly quote a post in another thread, but this does make it easier.
I actually just found the RSS view method while posting that message. I can usually get the link directly from the activity lists, but if not, I'll dig the message id out of the raw xml. I figured that wasn't going to be a viable method for someone who isn't already familiar with it.
Going forward I'll probably just get the link from the RSS view, I think it'll be easier to get the link that way than seeing if I can find it in the activity list.
