Can't install ICE on Windows 7 64 bit. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a new Dell Latitude laptop with Windows 7 Enterprise, 64 bit.  I downloaded the latest 64 bit version of ICE.  When I installed I was prompted to install Visual C++ 2010 Runtime Libraaries and .NET framework, which I did.  Now when I try to install I keep getting the message that I need to install Visual C++ 2010 Runtime Libraries.  If I try to install it asks if I want to uninstall or repair, since it is already installed.  Repairing does no good. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling Visual C++ but keep getting the same message.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    CJM

  • That is odd. Things to check.

    1) Did you get the installer from our website?  If not then please do that.

    2) If you are running the 64bit installer then you should be being prompted to load the 64bit C++ libraries.  In case somehow you installed the 32bit runtimes then please install the 64 bit instead: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=14632

    3) If 1,2 fail then please see my answer here from how to run dependency walker and send us the results - http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ice/thread/9fe87383-a1ac-41ee-a87e-d575559c5773

  • Matt:

I was using 64 bit app and C++ libraries.  I couldn't run dependency walker because ICE would not install at all. therefor there was nothing in Program Files.    I duplicated the problem on a Win7 64 desktop.

I resolved by logging on to the PC locally, rather than on the domain as an OU admin.  It installed no problem, and now that it is installed I can run the program as a domain user.  Not sure why I have an issue installing as OU admin.  Most apps install fine, but I had a problem similar to this with Google Earth (had to install as a local user).

    Thanks for your assistance.

  • I have the same problem, but with windows 7 32bits also on a Domain. My domain user is in local admin group.

Will try installing localy, thanks for the tip.
