Broken form in MS Dynamics CRM 2011 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am not an IT professional, but am admisistering our MS Dynamics Online accounts for 3 users.  I made several customizations with 4.0 with no problems.  The first one I tried in 2011 seemed to have "broken" the form.  I made some additional changes, but stil is not working.  The issue is when I am viewing "My Open Leads" and then I click on a lead to view the form data, it gives all of us errors when trying to use this form.  The error is a generic error that says an error occured and to try again or check with the Microsoft community and then contact CRM admin - ME.  I can't figure out what is wrong with the form, let alone how to fix the form, or even re-direct to a new form that I created.  I have a call into Microsoft, but maybe someone else out there has a solution for me.

Thanks in advance for your expert advice.

  • Do you have any jscript on the form?  See if the form works with it disabled?  If so, maybe post the code so we can take a look at what is wrong with it.

I guess I would like to know what the customization was that broke the form?

  • I'm not using any Java Script, just basically changing the layout and adding/moving some fields around the form.

  • You should check your web resources in CRM to see if maybe someone could have been doing jscript before you.  It could conflict with your changes.

Otherwise I would call the support number

  • In the future, it is a good practice to export your customizations / solu before making changes so you can import them and rollback in the event that something unexpected happens.   Be sure to select all the entities when you export in the event that a change you make impacts another entity.

  • I did get it solved, but had to go to Microsoft tech support.  There was something corrupt in the form that I had revised, but no info from Microsoft on what went wrong.  They basically restored the form and then made the same customization I did prior to it "breaking".

    Thanks for the follow-up.
