Win XP say's not genuine? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I purchased my IBM Thinkpad laptop in Singapore a few years back(cant remembr exactly how long) recently i went on a holiday to Macau, China. And It began giving me Genuine updates about not being able to use it as the KEY is invalid for it's region.
I have the microsoft XP key below my laptop as per all laptops and I can't seem to validate it again as there is no option.
It just brings me to microsoft website to download some plugins to validate and keeps asking me to buy new Microsoft Packs. How do I just validate it wiith the key under the my laptop ? Is there any link/program that ables me to do that? Thanks.

  • Hello Audacity,

Try the Product Key Updater Utility, look for the link in the first Forum Announcement.

  • Hello Audacity,

Please note: that if the Product Update tool is unable to change out the Product keys (for any reason), the only other option, that we can provide, is to reinstall XP using the proper key.

    Thank you,
    Darin MS
