  • Yes that's the one. Windows Home Server Disk Management Add-In by Sam Wood version 1.0.9.8
According to my server that was the one that was causing the issue.
    Well, I will reinstall it.

  • Are you seeing this when you use the FQDN of the server or when you are using the server name?  I get this problem only when I use the FQDN to access the server.

This normally points to a network configuration issue, when it happens inside your LAN. Can you ping the server by name, from another PC? By IP address? Could you post the results of running the ipconfig /all command on both a client machine that can't connect to the console and the server?

  • It actually did it to a second xp pc as well.
Problem solved though. It seems that the hard disk management add in was causing malfunction.
    I uninstalled it.
This is the 2nd time in a month that the specific add-inn is misbehaving. Last time Olaf and Ken helped me out of the bad situation.
I noticed that the conflict arises when I install some other add-inns afterwards. I don't know which ones specifically are causing the issue, But it needs thorough investigation. and I'll post again.
Could you please shed some light?
Should I reinstall the management add-inn since I like it a lot?
I have to mention that I have uninstalled all the others that came after that installation.
I am bit relucatant but I'll give it a try and see how it goes.

    Thanks once again.

  • Which hard disk management add-in? Personally, I would say if it's Disk Management by Sam Wood, you should avoid whatever other add-ins may be causing problems. I don't use it personally, but I've tested it and it's always seemed like one of the higher-quality add-ins available from the community.
