Windows 7 - Problem with validating activation (KMS) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have couple computers where are problem with activation of Windows 7 Enterprise via KMS.

From VAMT I get error "Access denied". The same issue is locally ater running slmgr.vbs.

From WGA log i get errors such as:

Unable to get detailed error information during license consumption. Last error 0x80070005.

Update Windows license and product key tokens failed with 0x80070005.

The same error number can be seen in report - Cached Online Validation Code: N/A, hr = 0x80070005
When i try to run slui.exe I get inforamtion: "On a computer running Microsoft Windows non-core edition, run 'slui.exe 0x2a 0x46' to display the error text. Error: 0x46".

I didn't find any clue how to resolve this issue (except reinstallation).

Maybe somebody know how to fix it?

    Regards,

    R.

Please post the full MGADiag log for one of the affected computers.
The 80070005 error is 'Access Denied' - the other is commonly caused by problems with firewalls

  • We are expierencing the same issue on the HP Elite 8100 desktop.  They fail to activate no matter what you do, I disabled all firewalls and AV.  I know the KMS server is functioning correctly as the same image can be activated on other hardware.

If I perform a fresh clean install from the enterprise DVD, it is still unable to activate. These HP 8100's will not even activate if I use the MAK key.

We are expierencing the same issue on the HP Elite 8100 desktop.

Please repost your report in your OWN NEW thread - this avoids confusion for all.
Having said that, KMS licensing looks for the SLIC table in the BIOS to check for appropriate base licensing for the Upgrade - your BIOS SLIC table for some reason cannot be read properly.
The simplest solution will be to flatten and rebuild.

  • Noel,

As I stated earlier, even with wiped HD, a clean fresh install also fails to activate, won't even let me install a MAK key to activate.  It only occurs on this HP 8100 model.  We have about 8 of these machines that we are trying to setup.

I will post this in a new thread.

    Thanks, Tony
