Question regarding 70-682 Windows 7 exam

Question
-
Does anyone know if the recently added windows 7 upgrade exam 70-682 can be used in place of the 70-680 exam for MCITP: Enterprise Administrator. I'm currently a MCSE and MCDST if i upgrade my Desktop support to windows 7 it would be very annoying if i then had to take another client exam in order to upgrade from MCSE to MCITP, especially when i'd already have the full qualification of MCITP: Enterprise support technican in windows 7.Wednesday, April 14, 2010 6:45 PM

Annoying is right. Especially since another place on the Microsoft site says the VISTA 621 desktop cert can be substituted for any 620 requirement.Thursday, April 29, 2010 8:00 PM

Hi
70-682 does in fact give you 70-680, so you can use 70-682 towards your mcsa or mcse.

That's not the question. Gav222 is already MCSE and MCDST and wants to upgrade to MCITP Enterprise Administrator and MCITP: Windows 7. He's in the same boat as me so I'd like to know the answer to this as well.
To go from MCDST to MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician on Windows 7, all you need is to write 70-682.
To go from MCSE to MCITP Enterprise Administrator you need 70-649 and 70-680.
However, 70-682 is supposed to be a combination of 70-680 and 70-685. So what Gav222 and I both want to know is: why do we need to write 70-680 when we've already written 70-682? Why can't 70-682 apply to MCITP Enterprise Administrator requirements instead of 70-680 when writing 70-680 is clearly redundant, given that we've written 70-682?

Well, I passed the 70-682 today. A bit harder than I expected, but passed nonetheless.
I look forward to seeing my Certification Planner in a couple of days to see what my options are!
I really don't want to write 70-680, being that I just wrote it inside of the 70-682 exam...

There are six (6) different MCSE certification titles for Windows. Here they are, including two (2) unrelated titles for SQL Server (Data Platform and Business Intelligence):
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/mcse-certification.aspxNo matter which of the six (6) MCSE certifications you are going for, you will need to pass two (2) exams to upgrade to MCSA: Windows Server 2012. They are:
- Exam 70-686, Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Administrator earns you the two (2) titles: MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Administrator on Windows 7 and MCSA: Windows 7
- Exam 70-417, Upgrading Your Skills to MCSA Windows Server 2012 earns you the title: MCSA: Windows Server 2012
Since you have already earned the title MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician, I am guessing that you want to go for MCSE: Desktop Infrastructure. However, I could be wrong. You can go for any of the six (6) MCSE Windows certification titles by just passing its two (2) related exams.
For example, to earn the MCSE: Desktop Infrastructure title, you will need to pass these two (2) exams:
- Exam 70-415, Implementing a Desktop Infrastructure
- Exam 70-416, Implementing Desktop Application Environments
Good luck!
