Product key problem- Vista Home Premium. Diagnostic report RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

I have read over similar threads and followed the instructions and have run a diagnostic report (see below).
I bought my Acer PC 13/14 months ago. I did not receive the Vista CD as it was already installed at the time.
A couple of weeks ago I had some repairs done to my PC and I am guessing that vista was re-installed using
a different media and so now my original product key(on the sticker on my PC) is not validating. Also, the error
message says that I can contact Dell to resolve the problem. However my PC is an Acer.
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • You cannot install and activate your Windows Vista installation if a Dell Windows Vista Reinstallation disc was used to install on an Acer computer.  You'll have to contact Acer and order the appropriate Windows Vista Recovery disc, then refomat your hard drive and install Windows Vista using the Acer Recovery disc.
