  • To celebrate the initiative, the Redmond Company has announced the debut of the Dream-Build-Play game development contest at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2007 in San Francisco. Game d3evelopers will have the opportunity of winning $10,000 and also have their title published on Xbox Live Arcade. The contest is available world-wide and submissions can be entered between March 5 and July 2, 2007.

    Microsoft is delivering the XNA Game Studio Express, a new tool designed to enable developers to build content for the Xbox 360 and Windows platforms. “Delivering on its commitment to offer the best and most accessible hardware, software and services for game developers on the Microsoft gaming platforms, Microsoft and its partners also showcased a suite of new products that will help developers of every level turn their dreams into reality. From the hobbyist to professional developers in the largest studios, Microsoft’s investments in game development technologies are helping to spark a new creative era while ensuring the best games are being built for Microsoft platforms,” revealed the Redmond Company via a press release.

    In addition to the $10,000 Grand Prize, Microsoft and its partners will also reward contributions from no less than 20 winners. In this regard, the Redmond Company, together with Alienware, Advanced Micro Devices, Autodesk and Softimage have put aside a total of $40,000 destined for the winners. August 13, 2007 will mark the end of the competition at Microsoft Gamefest 2007 in Seattle.
