BackUp

Question

Hi I just typed out a huge message and the system rejected it so I lost it ALL. I cannot do OneCare backup - when I try I get a message saying "OneCare is initialising. Please try again later" .
Even though I have tried email contact with OneCare support that returns an ERROR. I call and get put on hold for 30 minutes many times. I am NOT HAPPY. Where’s the support that supposed to be there ?

I'm sorry that you are having trouble reaching support. And, I'm sorry for the trouble you encountered with the forum, too. I've been getting the forum errors lately, too.
Personally, I would remove OneCare at this point and seek an alternative backup solution. When your subscription ends, you will need to do that anyway.

Uninstall OneCare http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/onecaregeneral/thread/732e6371-2e71-479a-8cd6-b189941ed4fb, use the cleanup tool: http://social.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/onecareinstallandactivate/thread/399071e2-49dc-4767-932d-d261e3965943/, and then download and install the free Microsoft Security essentials for malware protection - http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/resources.aspx
If you used OneCare for backups, you'll still be able to restore from old backups if you use the OneCare Restore tool - http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/onecarebackupandrestore/thread/e5d686c8-762b-4b22-bc08-bfb93f911e57, but you'll need to seek an alternative backup solution.
If you want to proceed with OneCare through the end of your subscription, a reinstall of OneCare may be in order. If your PC had a virus missed by OneCare and you reinstalled the operating system, perhaps you have not successfully updated Windows with the latest service packs and security patches?

Oh and One Care was working fine until last weekend when I got a virus. Yes and I run OneCare anti virus so I pay for OneCare, that lets a virus through so I then have to rebuild the system, cannot get support via phone or OneCare email when the system was rebuilt. Is anyone from Microsoft out there or off helping Bill count his $$$$Friday, July 16, 2010 3:31 AM
