  • Question

  • Can anyone tell me if the widget will auto detect the language depending on the county the site is being viewed from? Or does this happen only when using the API and the correct auto switch

    Thanks

  • Hello ponyandcarriage,

the widget does not consider the country of the site. You decide what it should assume as the source language, or if it should autodetect. In the case of autodetection, the language is determined by examining the characters and their combination on the page.

The user interface language of the widget is determined by the browser's accept-language setting.

  • Another thing to note is that based on the browser's language setting, the widget shows up in the language of the browser.

  • How would one "decide what it should assume as the source language" when one wants the service to autodetect the supplied content language?  would it be something like "&from=auto"?

Also, is there an explanation of all the parameters (such as layout, contentType, etc.) for the translator widget?

  • The empty string or no from parameter present will invoke auto-detection.

  • The auto-detection doesn't work well...
