    As far as I can tell, there's no problem with Windows Activation/Validation.
    What I suspect is the problem is a proxy/firewall somewhere in the circuit - or your PC is valid only for XP Home.
    Please check the COA Sticker on the case, and let us know for what version and edition of Windows the License is valid.

    Downgrades are only available for Professional editions of Windows.
     
    There is a good chance that all that is required is for you to activate your installation of Windows by Telephone.
