Cannot Purchase apps from the Windows store

I have just setup my Microsoft Account but I am unable to verify email address. when I click on Confirm email i get the message saying "service is temporarily unavailable". Because of this I am not able to purchase applications from the Windows Store. It says I need to first verify my email.

The Windows Store apps Forums are for discussion by developers about writing their own Windows Store apps.
