  • Question

  • I am trying to install Windows Live OneCare but it says if I am running WindowsXP, I need to be running Service Pack 2.  I do not know what this is.  I am running Windows XP Professional, because that is what I use at work and I need work that I bring home to be of the same version.  What do I do now?  Can I still install Service Pack 2 and how do I do that?  Do I need to purchase something additional or should I just have resubscribed to McAfee?  HELP.

Answers

  • If you are running Windows XP Professional and it is not yet up to date at Service Pack 2 (SP2), please go to Windows Update and install all available critical and important updates, including Service Pack 2 which will be offered to you. Continue to visit Windows Update until all updates have been offered and only optional updates remain after a scan.

Then you can install Windows Live OneCare.

Note, however, if you are using Windows XP 64 bit edition, OneCare cannot be installed to that OS.
