  • Dear Janzet

I am not quite sure what your exact question is - but if it is a question about which exams on .NET (either Visual Studio 2008/.NET 3.5 Framwork and/or Visual Studio 2010/.NET Framework 4.0 are required then I hope this info below will be of help to you :-) :

Starting with an overview of the exam track if you choose the Visual Studio 2008/.NET 3.5 Framwork and next the info regarding the upcoming exam track on Visual Studio 2010/-NET 4.0 Framwork:

    Certifications

MCPD on Microsoft Visual Studio 2008

If you plan to develop applications by using Visual Studio 2008 and the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, the Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD) on Visual Studio 2008 certifications can help you validate your skills and abilities. Candidates should have two to three years of experience using the underlying technologies that are covered in the exam. The available certification paths include the following:

    ·         Windows Developer 3.5 for developers who build rich client applications for the Windows Forms platform by using the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.

    ·         ASP.NET Developer 3.5 for developers who build interactive, data-driven ASP.NET applications by using ASP.NET 3.5 for both intranet and Internet uses.

    ·         Enterprise Application Developer 3.5 for developers who build distributed solutions that focus on ASP.NET and Windows Forms rich-client experiences.

    Exam 70-565

But maybe think of waiting for the brand new Visual Studio 2010/.NET 4.0 track which are supposed to be released from March 2010 and onwards :-)
If you are interested in what has been discussed about all these new exams on .NET Framework 4.0 (instead of 3.5) - then maybe have a look at these great MSDN blogs ("hosted" by Gerry O´Brien from MS): http://blogs.msdn.com/gerryo/archive/2009/05/28/visual-studio-2010-exams-are-changing.aspx
    and
    http://blogs.msdn.com/gerryo/archive/2009/10/30/visual-studio-2010-exams-update.aspx

I do not want to advice pro or cons regarding whether you should go for the .NET 3.5 track - or wait for a little while and go for the new .NET 4.0 track .....it all depends on your wishes and needs (and thereby the same for the market :-) :-)

But do be aware that MS has claimed that the will NOT develop any material (MS Press Training Kit and/or course materiale for MOC courses and/or MeasureUp exam prep) for the MCPD exams (70-563 and 70-564) - which you can also see in the bogs above. We have as a CPLS center struggled with that for a long time and MS has definitively told us/everyone that they will NOT make these materials, since they are "aiming at" the new VS 2010/.NET 4.0 instead.

Here is some more info regarding the exam dates and numbers on the upcoming Visual Studio 2010/.NET Framwork 4 from MS - see below - and the if you follow the link you can also read about the possibility of "beta-testing" these new .NET 4.0 exams if you are one of the lucky ones :-)

You´ll have to start with the MCTS exam and go further on to the MCITP (Pro) exam – and choose the ”direction” to be either Windows or Web direction J

Remember that these exams are brand new and still only in ”beta” and MS are still ”allowed” to change these J

I am pleased you could use the answer - please remember/consider to mark responses to your questions as answers if you feel they helps you - in that way others can easier find the bunch of "answered questions" they are looking for instead of only "open questions" :-):
