computer wiped by bad HDD, how to reactivate V2? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ironically as it seems, after beta testing WLOC version 2 beta since early in the developemental stages, going through all the tests etc and getting a pre paid key good till August, 2008...my computer was wiped by a bad HDD. During the time it has taken me to recover my files, reload XP Pro (and spend a day downloading all the updates) and then wanting to reinstall WLOC V2, the final came out.

Of course now it wants me to associate with a subscription but it won't let me use my pre-paid key that I received as a beta tester. Is there any way at all to re-associate WLOC 2 final with that pre paid key? I hate to lose all that time I had.

  • Jim is correct for a *subscription* for OneCare. However, the beta subscription was tied to the beta environment and the beta download is no longer available. The beta subscription was shown, for testing purposes, as expiring late in 2008, but the reality is that the beta software will cease updating much earlier. Now that you have installed the final of OneCare 2.0, you will be using the trial until you activate with a paid subscription or you purchase OneCare.

  • Kirk, you should be able to activate One Care using the Live ID associated with your subscription. Do not re use the key.
