"not running genuine Windows" warning RRS feed

  • I have a 2 year old Dell XPS system running Windows 7 Home Premium.  I have recently started getting a "Windows Activation Technologies" window pop up stating "This computer is not running genuine Windows".

    The COA sticker on the back of my computer says: "Windows 7 Home Prem OA".  I do have the Dell Reinstallation DVD that came with the PC and the product key code.

    I have included a dump from MGADiag below.

    What should I try to do to fix this?  Is there any way to recover without having to re-install my applications?

  • The common cause for these mismatches is a faulty Intel Rapid Storage Tech driver

    Download and install the latest version from....

  • To clarify, what you have to do to eliminate "This computer is not running genuine windows" pop-up after cloning your hard drive but you know your windows is activated: Get the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver from one of two places, depending on whether you have a brand name or generic computer, and then reactivate windows online. Note that the link provided above is only for Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista and Windows XP.     you  are wrong. as you can see clearly from the above results these drivers work for all editions of windows.

    there is no need to reactivate. 

    please do not post misleading information. read the whole report. it clearly shows the install is activated before and after the solution was applied.


    Intel have put out a new set of drivers for IRST.

    BEWARE! - these drivers are only for Win7 and Win8 - they do not
    support Vista or XP (unlike the set we are currently posting).
