Will Live Mesh support sharing files/folders with non Live Mesh & non LiveID users?

Question
-
I tried Live Mesh already two times: One week while using Dropbox and then a week while using SpiderOak.The great thing with Live Mesh is that it is easy as Dropbox but has as many preferences and the ability to sync any folder like SpiderOak.But not being able to send files/folders to ANYONE (as most people don't want to get an extra software) makes this great service useless...Is it a political decision not to support this usage scenario? (Because of pirating files etc...)Friday, July 17, 2009 1:08 PM

Live Mesh is not meant to be a public file hosting platform. It is meant to be a sync platform for access to *your* files from any devices in your Mesh or via the web when signed in with *your* ID. You can, as Scot pointed out, share a folder with another Live Mesh user. They must be signed in to access the folder.
If you desire file sharing with anyone, look into SkyDrive - http://skydrive.live.com where you can share files a number of ways. It does not, however, include the sync capabilities of Live Mesh.

You could give them access to the folder which they could then look at on www.mesh.com (assuming they have a Windows Live ID).

That's exactly the problem. Many people don't have and don't want a Live ID.And this kills another usage scenario: embedding pictures into your blog that are stored in my Live Mesh...Friday, July 17, 2009 2:41 PM
