  • Two months ago I signed up for a "free one year subscription" and now my account information says my subscription is expiring in 30 days.....

Is the anyone who can help me find a contact to straighten this out?

    Thanks

  • Okay. That would be the gift card.

Did you activate the subscription from within OneCare by clicking the Subscribe link and then signing in with your LiveID and selecting to activate with a Product Key or token? If not, you need to do that, and I hope that someone has not used the key that you posted here to a public forum before I spotted it and deleted it. If you didn't use it and someone snagged it, you won't be able to use it any longer.

If you already used it to activate the subscription, but you did it on the web and never activated the installed copy, you need to subscribe or activate from within OneCare by clicking the Subscribe link and using the *same* LiveID that you redeemed the token with before to create your subscription.

If you did activate with your LiveID and the token from within OneCare, but it now shows that your subscription is about to expire -

    • Check your PC date and time.
    • Check your subscription status by logging in with your subscription LiveID at http://billing.microsoft.com
    • Confirm that this is the same LiveID shown to be the Subscription ID in OneCare - Help/About…
    • Open OneCare and click "Check for Updates" to have OneCare check for updated credentials

If your subscription is correctly shown at the Billing site, but incorrect in OneCare and your PC date and time are correct, please contact support.

  • I'm not aware of any free 1 year subscriptions, unless you activated OneCare with a gift card. If you downloaded OneCare from http://onecare.live.com you downloaded a 90 day trial. You would need to subscribe at the end of 90 days using a retail product key after purchasing OneCare in a store, by using a token from a gift card, or by providing payment online through the activation/subscribe process.

Sign in at http://billing.microsoft.com with the LiveID you used to sign up for the subscription to see if you actually have a subscription activated.

If you purchased OneCare online during activation, you won't get a key. Your subscription is managed using your LiveID that you signed on with at the time of purchase. You can see the subscription status at http://billing.microsoft.com

If you have a retail copy of OneCare, the key is inside the box, typically on the back of the CD tray.
