  • Hello hipharry,

Try the troubleshooting methods in this MS KB:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919895

Usually the FixIt in Method 3 corrects the problem.

Let us know if it works for you :-)

  • Hello hipharry,

    OK, let's work thru it.

    1.  Restart the computer and go to http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/default.aspx? and click on the Start Diagnostics button.  This procedure checks settings in Windows and Internet Explorer to make sure the OGA Notifier will run properly.  If there are any issues, follow the instructions to Resolve the issues.  If issues were identified, after fixing restart the computer.

    2.  Next, check your Documents and Settings folder structure to see if it is different from the default.  If different, the FixIt utility may not have deleted the correct license file.  Normally, the path to the Office License file is c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\microsoft\office\opa12.dat.  For example, on computers where a repair reinstallation has been done, a different file structure may be present, such as c:\documents and settings\all users.windows\application data\microsoft\office.  If your computer has a nonstandard documents and settings file structure, use search to locate all instances of the license file "opa12.dat" in the c:\documents and settings folder and subfolders, and delete them following the manual instructions in KB 919895.  If you did find this to be the case on your computer, after deleting the other opa12.dat files, restart then open Word 2007 and you should be presented with the Activation Wizard.  Activate, then restart, then visit www.microsoft.com.genuine to Validate, then open an Office program and check for the nongenuine notices.

    3.  If you do not have a nonstandard D&D folder structure, you next task is to open an Office program such as Word, then when you see the nongenuine notice, click on the "Learn More Online" link.  Going to that page will force the OGA Notifier to recheck the Office Genuine and Validation status.  Restart once more and open an Office program to check for nongenuine notices.

Work on these steps and post back to let us know how you are doing.  If the above steps do not correct the issue, we will link you to free email tech support for OGA issues.
