Genuine windows 7 after 6 months says its not genuine....pls help

Question
-
My girlfriend was given a copy of windows 7 ultimate by her university so she can work from home. It has been installed on the pc for nearly 6 months now with no problems. On boot up yesterday, it took 20 minutes to get to the desktop. After log in it went to a balck screen with the cursor, then stuck on the welcome screen for 5 minutes and eventually the desktop appeared but with the wallpaper missing and a message in the bottom right saying this copy of windows is not genuine. I have been all over the web for a solution. I have run malwarebytes. stinger and superantispyware all of which were clear. I have tryed to use phone activation but cannot get past error messages to get the activation code. Its driving me insane and she is unable to do any work on the pc.

On a computer running Microsoft Windows non-core edition, run 'slui.exe 0x2a 0x46' to display the error text.
Error: 0x46That line is abnormal, it is kind of vague but I would like you to try the following. Let us know if one of these steps works.
SFC/system restore
type cmd in the search box of the start menu, right click on the icon that appears and type sfc /scannow without the qoutes and press enter, allow SFC to run, reboot when directed. If you get any error messages write them down exactly as they appear. After rebooting go to www.microsoft.com/genuine and attempt to validate.
If that does not work then type system restore in the search box, click on the resulting program and follow the wizards prompts to restore to a previous point prior to the non-genuine status.
If that does not work then start a no cost wga tech support incident at the following link http://support.microsoft.com/gp/contactwga

Hello Rogue Ghost,
Just a comment, more likely a malware or hardware situation as it never takes WGA/WAT that long to decide whether an installation is Genuine or not. The W7 installation coming up nongenuine is more likely another symptom of the problem and not the problem itself.
