IM to Exchange Distribution List Issue RRS feed

  • Hi All,

    we have a weird problem.  We are running a standalone version of OCS 2007 and an exchange 2003 environment.  We can IM to individuals, but not to distribution groups.  We are able to look up and find distribution groups, but when we go to send a message we get the following message in the communicator client (note <distribution list> is meant to represent any distribution list as we have tried several):

    "<distribution list> could not be found and this message was not delivered:"

    There is nothing in any of the event logs and all the RTC services are running.  Furthermore, if we go to the https://<FQDN>/GroupExpansion/Int/service.asmx?op=ExpandDistributionList, and enter in the email address of the distribution list, the service returns all of the addresses in the distribution list... just as it should.

    So we have no idea why we cannot send and IM to the distribution list.  Have we maybe missed a step somewhere along the line?  Can someone point me in the right direction?

  • I have found the answer.  The cert we used to establish the TLS connection was signed by a CA that OCS could not resolve.  We simply added the cert for the root CA into the "Trusted Root Certificate Authorites" store.  The only reason we needed to do this is because the CA is currently offline.  A purchased cert from a CA (verisign) or a cert generated by you own CA infrastructure should not have this issue.
