Activated Windows 7 Ultimate Became Non-Activated - What Happened? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I successfully actrivated my Windows 7 Ultimate some 7-8 months ago.  I have been using it without difficulty until about two weeks ago, when all of a sudden my system failed validation and I got the "black screen".  I went through system restore and was able to get back to my normal desktop, but strated getting failures with automatic validation.  My question is why was this install valid a month ago, but not now?

    The diagnostic information follows:

The product ID -067- Indicates a not for resale MSDN account. If you are not the account holder and you purchased this in a retail box, the box and it's contents are counterfeit. Demand an immediate refund from the seller

    For more information see this:

To see how good these counterfeits are becoming, see:

You will have to purchase a legitimate windows from a legitimate retailer or revert to the windows your computer came with.

  • Depending on how many copies using this product key were sold by the counterfeiters it can take Microsoft several months to detect it as an abused key.  It appears that this has now happened to your key.  If you recently downloaded Microsoft software requiring validation then that probably triggered the notification.  George is correct, you need to purchase a full licensed copy of Windows or revert to your previous copy.  Do not purchase from online auctions or diccount websites.  There are tens of thousands of copies of this counterfeit Windows produced in China.

  • Thank you all for your advice and understanding my problem.  I will see about accepting Microsoft's offer of a valid key when the automatic validation occurs on my system.
