DHCP server Aging/Scavenging RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

My question is related to DHCP and DNS working..

If DHCP server is having the lease of particular computer and we manually deleted the Host A record from the DNS server. Then whenever computer will connect the DHCP server then will DHCP create the HOST A record again in DNS or when DHCP assigned a new IP to computer then will create the new entry in DNS server?

We have enabled dynamic DNS entry update option in DHCP server.

Also, for Wi-Fi scope we have configured 1 day lease and for LAN we have configured 8 days lease duration. Then what will the best configuration we use for Aging/Scavenging with NO-refresh interval and refresh interval.

Please suggest. In my environment we are getting many duplicate IP's issue and presently we have configured (4 days No-refresh interval and 4 days for refresh interval)

    Aginngin + Scavenging = 7+7

LAN = 8 days ok, WLAN = 1 day or less ok.

DNS registration can be configured in DHCP options as you do, but the client os behavior can be configured also with GPO.
