CRM 2011 - 404 file not found after reinstall rollup 6 RRS feed

  •
    Hi there,

    Problem is as below.

Suddenly we were having error on CRM 2011 that "Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Crm' or one of its dependencies. The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest"

When I check i found in CRMWb\bin directory Microsoft.crm.dll and adodb.dll file are have been currupt.
    1. I have taken backup of database.
    2. I manually run Update (Re-install) Rollup 6 "CRM2011-Server-KB2600640-ENU-amd64.exe" and completed successfully.
So that currpt files can be restored. And it does restore also and shows correct version now.3. Restarted CRM server.

But now I am getting message that "404 - file not found...." when I try to browse the CRM!! How can I fix it?

    Please help.

    Thanks in advance

  • Mike,

You have done correct steps. 404 error is due to IIS reset causes changes in configuration of IIS and filters.

-Now you should take CRM.dll and keep in safe place.

-Hope you might have copy of all web site file of CRM. You should again over write it after RU6 updated site so that changes made by RU 6 can be removed from UI customisation settings.

-RU6 also update db so restore your old db by owerwrite.

-Place updated CRM.dll file again in bin directory by overwite.

    - Now you can see that you can unintall RU5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and again reinstall RU 1,2,3,4,5. Thus currupt IIS settings and user mappings again refreshed.

Try running CRM. All must be ok now.

    Best luck.
