Enterprise Standard Calendar Questions RRS feed

  • Question

  • I was able to get the resource calendars my company uses into the enterprise calendar pool using the organizer. When attempting to save a MSP file to the project server, I get a dialog box where I have to choose the calendar. The schedule is currenty using 3 resource calendars, but I can only select one. If I leave the standard option selected, I get a dialog box saying that enterprise standard calendars are needed and that this may result in changes to schedule dates. I see in the PWA where the enterprise calendars are created, and the resources are being recognized between the two files because it prompts me to ensure that they are indeed the same resource. What may be causing the file to not recognize the enterprise calendars that are set up already?

You need to use the Import Project wizard to import your existing MPP project into your Project Server system.  On step #1 of the wizard, you can map the resources in your project with corresponding resources in the Enterprise Resource Pool.  The calendars for the enterprise resources will then take over the schedule of the tasks to which they are assigned.  This assumes, of course, that your Project Server administrator has specified the correct Base Calendar for each of the resources in the Enterprise Resource Pool.  Beyond this, however, you CANNOT import your resource calendars into Project Server for local resources in a local project file, which is why you are having the problem.  Only the Project Server administrator can edit enterprise resource data, including their Base Calendar and adding planned vacation time to each resource's calendar.  Hope this helps.
