Address Book Sync on Windows 2008 - OCS 2007 R2 - HMC 4.5 (OU isolation) - .dabs not found RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
    So before i start, i know that OCS 2007 R2 is not yet supported on HMC 4.5 but i made everything work except for one thing (which didn't work for me on OCS 2007 R1 as well). I can't make the Address Book Sync work.

    Before i start, it's essential to mention that i did the obvious

    •   SSL certificates configurations
    •   Internet Information Services (IIS ) 7.0 Kernel Mode Authentication Settings
    •   Loopback hostname
    •   SETSPN for RTCComponentService
    •   Create the Local Security Authority host names that can be referenced in an NTLM authentication request (loopback thing)

    So i ended up with the following Web Components validation tool error:
    URL: https://pool.domainname.com/Abs/Int/Handler/D-0be5-0be6.dabs
    Received a failure HTTP response.: HTTP Response: 404 Not Found
    Content-Type:text/html; charset=utf-8
    Date:Sun, 24 May 2009 11:25:34 GMT

    Received a failure HTTP response.: NotFound
    Suggested Resolution: Check whether the Web Server or Office Communications Server component is running and also listening on the specified url. If server is behind a load balancer, please make sure the loopback connection is allowed from load balancer FQDN.
    Suggested Resolution: Check the Web Proxy setting in this machine and ensure that it is correctly configured

    Now, when i search for:

    I find it in:

    and not in:

    but not where it should be in an HMC environment.

    However, when i copy that file to:

    for testing purposes and to isolate the issue, the validation tool succeeds but Office Communicator can still NOT sync my address book. When going to the Configuration Information of Office Communicator, i get:
    URL Internal From Server;https://pool.domainname.com/Abs/Int/Handler;--;
    URL External From Server;https://web.domainname.com/Abs/Ext/Handler;--;
    GAL Status;https://pool.domainname.com/Abs/Int/Handler;Cannot synchronize with the corporate address book. This may be because the proxy server setting in your web browser does not allow access to the address book. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.;

    any help is appreciated.

  • I think re-configuring the ABS part from HMC 4.5 fixed that issue. I also had to wait a day to see the result (but you can let ABS run on demand)

  • Hi Haytham,

    I think you got the address book sync working?

    I have a problem in our organization. The address book is created and downloaded correctly. The entries in galcontacts.db only contain the users of the OU.
    All fine so far.

    If I use the search function within communicator I can only find the users from my OU. If I use the add contact wizard from the communicator tools menu I can see ALL OCS users in our organization.
    The only hint I found is the user/contact object permission on RTCSearchPropertySet for Authenticated users. But I removed this permission during the HMC Setup for OCS.

    Could you check how it is shown in your organization? Do you have any additional ideas how to fix this??
